Indian Health Service -- Working with tribes, the IHS provides health services to 1.8 million American Indians and Alaska Natives of more than 560 federally recognized tribes. The Indian health system includes 48 hospitals, 272 health centers, 327 health stations, satellite clinics, Alaska Native village clinics, residential substance abuse treatment centers and 34 urban Indian health programs.
