Position Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Health Services or closely related field and three years of experience in a health related or social service field. An equivalent combination of education and job-related experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Must have the ability to perform confidential disease investigations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Must have the ability to instruct others on appropriate disease investigation techniques. Knowledge of the principles and practices of epidemiology relating to STD's; knowledge of research methods, procedures and techniques used in identifying and evaluating STD's and methods of treatment preferred.

NOTE: The successful candidate must attend CDC Advanced STD Investigation Training (within six months of hire), CDC STD Intervention for Supervisors (within one year of hire), and Principles of STD Supervision (within one year of hire).

Additional Information: Degrees/credits must be from an academically accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) or the Council for Higher Education (CHEA).

Essential Job Tasks: Reviews field records and cases, making recommendations for appropriate case management and follow-up. Performs quality improvement activities, including field record pouch reviews, interview audits, and field visit audits of staff. Performs case investigations to locate individuals for treatment, interviews patients to elicit contacts. Provides guidance and direction to Communicable Disease Investigators in the STD Field Services group. Develops and implements data collection criteria, analyze case management, and use to develop disease intervention strategies. Conducts and writes employee evaluations. Provides input to the STD Field Services Manager on program strategies and the direction of the department. Serves as acting manager when the STD Field Services Manager is unavailable. Participates in Public Health emergency response actions as directed. Performs other related duties as assigned.
