JOB DESCRIPTION:
As the Epidemiologist in the HIV/STD/Viral Hepatitis Program you will plan, implement and evaluate the statewide HIV/AIDS case surveillance system. You will be responsible for the primary collection of HIV/AIDS case reports from hospitals, clinics, and physician offices; preparing analyses and reports of epidemiological data and disseminating them both in-state and nationally. This position provides education in HIV epidemiologic surveillance issues to medical and laboratory providers; prepares CDC grant applications; develops policies and procedures pertaining to disease reporting; and prepares statistical analyses relating to HIV and Sexually Transmitted Diseases. You will also manage Maine CDC-wide projects, as appropriate.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A Masters Degree in Epidemiology or closely related field – or – a Bachelors Degree in Epidemiology or closely related field – and – two (2) years professional experience in epidemiology. Equivalent related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. HIV program experience preferred.
