The Texas Department of State Health Services is seeking a Program Specialist V to act as the Rapid Response Team Lead and Disease Intervention Expert (RRT/DIE) for the State of Texas HIV/STD program. Responsible for leading rapid responses to public health needs in HIV and STD program areas. Serves as a consultant on a myriad of HIV and STD disease intervention and program management issues. This will include (but is not limited to) HIV, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, program issues, staffing issues, and overall technical assistance. The RRT/DIE is expected to be on deployment to STD programs 40 weeks per year. RRT/DIE, when not on travel status, will on an ongoing basis be located in high morbidity areas (HMAs) as identified by DSHS in coordination with local health departments. Due to the high amount of travel, the person selected for this position may reside in any of the Austin, Dallas, Houston or San Antonio metropolitan areas.
