Transgender women are 49 times more likely to be living with HIV when compared with the general population. Additionally, health care providers often disregard the needs and requests of transgender men based on the gender they were assigned at birth. Many health care providers lack the necessary training, when it comes to medical knowledge and sensitivity, to properly address the needs of this adversely effected population.
