- 2. STD Public Health Infrastructure Needs Assessment Project
- As part of a larger policy strategy to strengthen the position of STD programs nationally, NCSD contracted with the Policy Resource Group (led by Beth Meyerson, former Missouri STD/AIDS director) to conduct a needs assessment focusing on STD program infrastructure. STD program infrastructure refers to the systems, competencies, relationships and resources that enable performance of STD program core functions in every community.
- 3. Neonatal Herpes Workgroup
- The Neonatal Herpes Workgroup, which represents a cross-section of STD directors and public health organizations including the American Social Health Association (ASHA), the Association for Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP) and the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE), is exploring the possibilities and ramifications of making neonatal herpes a reportable condition.
- 4. Strengthening State Health Education Agency Partnerships to Improve HIV STD and UTP Prevention in Schools
- In July 2005, the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP), National Alliance of State and Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD), National Coalition of STD Directors (NCSD), and The Society of State Directors of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (SSDHPER) collaborated to offer a regional meeting with the goal of strengthening communication and collaboration between State Departments of Education and Health to support and improve HIV, STD, unintended and teen pregnancy prevention in schools.
