Female Condoms: Health Department Success Stories

NCSD and the National Female Condom Coalition

A new factsheet is here!

NCSD recently produced “Female Condoms: Health Department Success Stories” with the National Female Condom Coalition (NFCC), of which NCSD is a member. This factsheet brings together the best practices of our member health departments in New York City, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, and Chicago as they work on heightening the awareness and utilization of female condoms in their jurisdictions.

Promoting and providing female condoms is a valuable tool for STD prevention, as FCs are the only non-latex, non-hormonal, female-controlled tool for safer sex. NCSD and the NFCC are committed to improving the uptake of FCs and strongly encourage the distribution and promotion of female condoms by health departments. The factsheet allows you to see how other health departments are accomplishing female condom campaigns and brainstorm ideas for your own project area.

Check it out below to learn more, and don’t hesitate to contact us with questions or to request your own copies of any of our factsheets.

As a proud partner of the National Female Condom Coalition, NCSD invites you to celebrate Global Female Condom Day with us on Friday, September 16th!  Global Female Condom Day is an annual day of education and advocacy to increase awareness, access, and use of female condoms around the world.

NCSD has received multiple requests for information about sexual transmission of the Zika virus.  We understand that several state and local STD programs are not included in discussions about Zika response, or about sexual transmission of cases.
