Description

Within the ever-evolving landscape of the STD/HIV prevention field, DIS are often taking on additional duties such as referring clients to PrEP services. With men who have sex with men (MSM) being a priority population in STD/HIV prevention, it is imperative that DIS are engaging with MSM clients effectively and linking them to PrEP when appropriate. Curious about what the processes are for health departments around the country when it comes to DIS doing this work successfully?

This is an informative webinar on how several jurisdictions are using DIS to do PrEP referrals with MSM, along with their successes and lessons learned. Speakers are from the District of Columbia Health and Wellness Center, Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (Illinois), and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

Objectives

This webinar aims to highlight programs speaking about their processes regarding:

  • DIS referring MSM clients to PrEP at local clinics or other local agencies.
  • DIS prescribing PrEP “in-house” at their health department.
  • Training DIS to speak about PrEP and motivating MSM clients to start PrEP if they are an appropriate candidate.
