POSITION

The Manager, Communications will work on projects related to communications strategy, tasks and projects. Reporting to the Director, Communications, this position will work collaboratively with the Director, Communications and other organizational staff on an overall communications plan to broaden the impact of NCSD’s program, public policy, and legislative advocacy work. This position is designed to perform foundational communications tasks for the organization and foster growth in the field on health communications, in particular pertaining to sexual health and STDs.

 RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Implement key elements of NCSD’s communications plan
  • Perform research duties for communications efforts, including maintaining outreach lists of journalists, publications, and health communications staff
  • Perform website auditing and editing duties
  • Writing and posting of social media
  • Maintain membership communications platform, and write and develop content for membership communications
  • Review, edit, and update policy-related communications, including factsheets
  • Develop evaluation reports from social media, website, and mailing service analytics
  • Assist with copywriting weekly email update to all NCSD membership
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience working in health communications and public health

DESIRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion for working in public health, in particular the fields of STDs and sexual health
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience working with website content management systems
