DIS, you may have heard some conversations happening around the recent debt ceiling deal negotiated between the Biden administration and Congress and its impact on the STI sector and public health. We invite you to attend an informational Chai Chat where you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions you may have and to connect with other DIS for support in an informal setting.
In the first part of this conversation, NCSD’s Executive Director David Harvey and the NCSD team will share information on the deal negotiated, what we know to be true, and areas we are working tirelessly to get more answers. The second part of our conversation will focus on questions you all have as DIS.
This conversation is open to all DIS and those who conduct partner services with patients/clients. To facilitate a safe space for DIS to share thoughts, questions, and concerns, we’ll kindly ask that any Program Managers/Directors present disconnect from the meeting after the informational update presented by NCSD staff.
This will be the first in a series of conversations to support you all as DIS as we navigate the waters on how this decision may impact us and the care we provide to our communities. If this is your first Chai Chat, we invite you to bring some hot chai and questions you may have. This will be an informal, unstructured space to speak freely and seek support from NCSD and peer DIS.
To encourage a safe space, this conversation was not recorded. However, if you missed it or if you have further questions, feel free to contact Sonya Khan, Senior Manager, Disease Intervention and DIS at skhan@ncsddc.org.
Many of you asked how you can support and advocate for our work. We’ll be sharing advocacy resources here soon.
