Women and Healthy Equity

Women disproportionately bear the long-term consequences of STDs in the US.

> Our Work > Health Equity > Women and Healthy Equity

Untreated STDs cause infertility in at least 24,000 women in the US every year. Furthermore, untreated syphilis in pregnant women has resulted in infant death in up to 40% of cases. Testing and treatment are key to preventing these outcomes, but too often are women denied service due to gender related stigma and misconceptions.
