About Our Policy Work
NCSD public health members are uniquely positioned to know what works to reduce STD rates in their jurisdictions. As the voice of our members, NCSD provides leadership, builds capacity, convenes partners, and advocates for the policies, programs, and resources necessary to reduce STD rates and the serious health consequences of these diseases.
As the only national organization with a constituency that provides frontline STD services, NCSD is the leading national voice for strengthening STD prevention, research, and treatment. These efforts include advocating for effective policies, strategies, and sufficient resources, as well as increasing awareness of the medical and social impact of STDs. NCSD staff and members educate Members of Congress and the Executive Branch, provide testimony at governmental hearings and meetings, and are actively involved in numerous national coalitions focused on HIV/AIDS, reproductive health and other sexual health issues.
