This webinar taught participants how to use CDC Division of STD Prevention's SPACE (STD Prevention Allocation Consequences Estimator) Monkey tool for assessing budget impact in the STD field.
The SPACE Monkey tool was created for state and local STD programs to show how budget increases or decreases could impact disease burden, direct medical costs, and intermediate outcomes like partner services. This webinar includes case examples from the Arizona Department of Health and Texas Department of State Health services on how to practically use SPACE Monkey. An accompanying customizable fact sheet created by Association of State and Territorial Health Officials and NCSD was highlighted to help health departments communicate data with stakeholders.
SPACE Monkey uses evidence-based methods for projections related to chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and STD-related HIV. Other uses have not been validated.
